Mariana
in the UK
I was born in Mexico and I have always loved science and creativity.
I studied Biology in Mexico and then trained for a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge in the UK. I am a researcher at the University of Southampton. My research focuses on understanding how the brain and its neural networks are affected by dementia, in particular Alzheimer's disease.
I am a mum of two and I am married to an astronomer with whom I share 50/50 the house work and parenting duties. I love doing calligraphy, collage art and I enjoy long walks with my family and our dog Luna. I like both scientific and creative writing.
